Two workshops are being offered this year:
Core Workshop:
- SOLD OUT!
- The workshop will consist of several presentations of current
interest to industry, as well there will be opportunity for
delegates to view the core and to discuss with presenters;
- Two sessions available on May 1, 2011;
- In order to register for the Core Workshop you must be
registered for the conference.
Core Logging Workshop:
- The two day workshop (May 4-5, 2011) facilitated by Don Kent,
James MacEachern and John Lake is intended to familiarize
participants with the important fundamentals of logging both
carbonate and siliciclastic cores in a practical setting. All core
samples are from the Williston Basin, but the logging methods
apply to any sedimentary core. The agenda is designed to
include one day covering siliciclastics cores and a second
covering carbonates. Each day will commence with a lecture
introducing the participants to the principles required to get the
most useful information from the cores. This will be followed by
observation of some reference cores, following which the
participants will be given an opportunity to obtain “hands on”
experience with core examination. The limit of twenty participants
ensures a relaxed atmosphere in which interaction can be
encouraged. Each participant will be supplied with a manual
containing notes from the lectures. Lunch will be served on site to
maximize the amount of time that can be spent on core
examination. The afternoon session on the second day will
terminate between 4:00 and 4:15pm to permit participants an
opportunity to catch transportation to their respective centres of
residence.
- Who should attend? Junior geologists or engineers who have
had limited exposure to core logging
techniques.
- Limited to 20 delegates;
- Cost: $500CAD;
- In order to register for the Core Logging Workshop you must
be registered for the conference.
